Tenor Geonmuk Lim began his academic and artistic training by studying voice at the prestigious Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea, where he was taught by Prof. Locky Chung. He then moved to Germany to pursue a Master's degree in Vocal Performance at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, where he successfully continued his studies in the class of Prof. Martin Wölfel.

He has already achieved notable success both on the operatic stage and in international competitions. In 2023, he received two special prizes at the 41st Daegu International Vocal Music Competition. He made his operatic debut in 2025 in a Folkwang University of the Arts production, appearing as Don Ottavio in Mozart's "Don Giovanni". Another important milestone followed in 2026, when he reached the semi-finals of the prestigious 44th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition.

From the 26/27 season, Geonmuk Lim is a member of the International Opera Studio at Cologne Opera. At the reopened Opera House at Offenbachplatz, he will appear in productions including Dvořák's "Rusalka", Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte", Verdi's "Macbeth", Offenbach's "The Tales of Hoffmann", and Puccini's "Madama Butterfly". At Kinderoper Köln, he will also perform in the opening production of "Der König verschenkt was".

  • Macbeth
