Guss

Bass Josua Guss comes from Lower Saxony and began playing the horn as a child. After studying horn as a junior student at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf, he initially studied music education and Romance studies in Stuttgart. He subsequently studied singing with Prof. Bernhard Jaeger-Böhm and began a master’s programme in Lied with Prof. Cornelis Witthoefft in 2017. He attended masterclasses with Margreet Honig, Brigitte Fassbaender and Melanie Diener. Since his student days, he has continued his vocal training with Susanne Eisch.

After a year as a trainee in the Stuttgart State Opera Chorus, he joined the chorus of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf/Duisburg as a second bass in 2017. Since the 2024/25 season, he has been a permanent member of the Cologne Opera Chorus.

Alongside his work as a singer, Josua Guss is a qualified yoga teacher and teaches singing at the DER KELLER drama school.
