Svenja Gottsmann

Vita

Svenja Gottsmann studied theatre and musicology at the University of Leipzig and music theatre dramaturgy at the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding. In addition to dramaturgy and directing internships at the Semperoper Dresden and the Leipzig Opera, she took on her first production dramaturgies during her studies. From 2014/15, she worked as a dramaturge at the Salzburg State Theatre for two seasons and moved to this position at the Vorpommern Theatre in 2016/17. From 2017 to 2022, she was engaged at the Aalto-Theater Essen, where she has worked with directors including Mariame Clément, Tatjana Gürbaca, Sabine Hartmannshenn and Paul-Georg Dittrich. Svenja Gottsmann has been a dramaturge at the Cologne Opera since 2022/23 and has supervised, among others the productions ‘Der Zwerg / Petruschka’ (director: Paul-Georg Dittrich / choreography Richard Siegal), ‘Giulio Cesare in Egitto’ (director: Vincent Boussard), ‘Die lustige Witwe’ (director: Bernd Mottl), ‘Ein Maskenball’ (director: Jan Philipp Gloger) and the world premiere of ‘INES’ by Ondřej Adámek (director: Katharina Schmitt).
