The mezzo-soprano completed her training at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Daphne Evangelatos. Early performances brought her to roles such as Ruggiero in Handel's "Alcina", Dorabella in "Così fan tutte", Flower Girl in "Parsifal" under James Levine as well as Sesto in Handel's "Julius Caesar in Egypt" under René Jacobs.

She has been an ensemble member of Oper Köln since 2002.03. Oper Köln audiences know her as Octavian ("Der Rosenkavalier"), Fragoletto (Offenbach's "Die Banditen"), in the title role of "La Cenerentola", as Rosina ("Il barbiere di Siviglia"), Prince Orlofsky ("Die Fledermaus") and as Hänsel ("Hänsel und Gretel"), among others. In 2010, she appeared as Wellgunde ("Das Rheingold", "Götterdämmerung") and Waltraute ("Die Walküre") at the Shanghai Grand Theatre as part of Oper Köln's guest performance in China.

In the past seasons she was heard at Oper Köln in roles such as Jenny in Kurt Weill's "Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny", Adalgisa in "Norma", Composer in "Ariadne auf Naxos", Cherubino in "Le nozze di Figaro", Sesto in "La clemenza di Tito", Ruggiero in "Alcina", Giovanna Seymour in "Anna Bolena", Donna Elvira in "Don Giovanni", Siebel in Gounod's "Faust" and 2nd Lady in “Die Zauberflöte".

Regina Richter has made guest appearances with numerous orchestras, such as the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Al Ayre Espagnol Orchestra and the WDR Radio Symphony Orchestra.

In the 2022.23 season, she will appear as Nireno in "Giulio Cesare in Egitto", 2nd Lady in “Die Zauberflöte” and Alisa in "Lucia di Lammermoor".
