Giulia Montanari

Vita

The German-Italian soprano Giulia Montanari studied musicology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and singing at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar. During her studies she appeared as Anna in "La dame blanche", Mademoiselle Silberklang ("The Drama Director") and in "L'Enfant et les Sortilèges", among others. She made her debut at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar in the 2017.18 season as Papagena (“Die Zauberflöte"). In the 2018.19 season she appeared as the Sandman and the Dew Fairy (“Hänsel und Gretel") and in the world premiere of the children's opera "Der Eisblumenwald" by Jörn Arnecke. Following her passion for baroque music, she sang Salomé ("San Giovanni Battista" by Alessandro Stradella) and La bellezza ("Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno") at the Festival du Périgord Noir.

Giulia Montanari has worked with renowned conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Stefan Parkman, Anu Tali, Mariss Jansons, Ulf Schirmer and Peter Dijkstra. In the 2019.20 season she was a member of the Opera Studio NRW and subsequently a permanent ensemble member of the Aalto Music Theatre for two seasons. There she appeared as Sandrina ("La finta giardiniera"), Fiakermilli ("Arabella"), Euridice ("Orfeo|Euridice", C. W. Gluck), Adele ("Die Fledermaus"), Helga ("Auf Ihr Wohl, Herr Blumenkohl!", Jacques Offenbach) and Belinda ("Dido and Aeneas").

Giulia Montanari joined the ensemble of Oper Köln at the beginning of the 2022.23 season. Here she can be seen as Ascagne in "Les Troyens", Blonde in "Die Entführung aus dem Serail", Clorinda in "La Cenerentola", Cleopatra in "Giulio Cesare in Egitto" and the Queen of the Night in "Die Zauberflöte".
