Alicia Grünwald
Vita
Mezzo-soprano Alicia Grünwald first completed her bachelor's degree in piano in Munich before taking up vocal studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Prof. Bernd Valentin. Since October 2022, she has been studying for her master's degree in opera and musical theater at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Prof. Gideon Poppe, recently graduating with top marks. She also received further important vocal inspiration in a master class with Vesselina Kasarova.
Alicia Grünwald also has a special passion for song interpretation and Baroque music. She was a long-time soloist in the Baroque ensemble BachWerkVokal Salzburg and participated in two recitals in Vienna, organized by the Austrian Goethe Society.
At the Theater Bonn, she sang the second alumna in Franz Schreker's opera “Der singende Teufel” during the 22/23 season. In the 23/24 season, she appeared as the Third Naked Virgin in Arnold Schönberg's “Moses und Aron” and as Laudine's Heart in Moritz Eggert's children's opera “Iwein Löwenritter”. At the Cologne Opera, she sang the role of Lady Capulet in the youth opera “Romeo and Juliet” by Boris Blacher and Berta in the children's opera “Pünktchen und Anton” by Iván Eröd. In the world premiere of “INES” by Ondrej Adámek, she was heard in the role of Speaker 5.
In 24/25, she appeared at Theater Bonn as Lehrbube in “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” and in the mobile children's opera “Mücke hat Fieber.” She also appeared as Lehrbube at the Deutsche Oper Berlin during the 24/25 season.
Since the 25/26 season, Alicia Grünwald has been a member of the International Opera Studio at the Cologne Opera, where she made her debut as the Second Lady in “Die Zauberflöte,” Hansel in “Hänsel und Gretel”, and Siegrune in “Die Walküre,” and also appeared in the mobile children's opera “Max und Moritz”.
