Christopher Moulds is a renowned conductor whose expertise and versatility have made him a sought-after figure internationally. Enjoying strong affiliations with leading opera houses, including the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and Opéra national du Rhin, Moulds commands a repertoire spanning Monteverdi, Handel and Mozart to Humperdinck, Britten and Birtwistle.

In the 2026/27 season, Moulds makes two Polish debuts, conducting Handel’s “Messiah” with the Kraków Philharmonic and Vivaldi’s “Juditha Triumphans” with Warsaw Chamber Opera. He returns to the Staatsoper Berlin and Oper Köln for performances of Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas”, and to the Bayerische Staatsoper for Mozart’s “Idomeneo” and Gluck’s “Orpheus”.

Recent European engagements include Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas” at the Staatsoper Berlin, Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” and “Così fan tutte” at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Handel’s “Orlando” with Opéra de Lausanne and Longborough Festival Opera, Handel’s “Ariodante” with Opéra national du Rhin, and Rameau’s “Castor et Pollux” at the Staatstheater Meiningen. He has also conducted “Così fan tutte” at the Opernhaus Zürich and “Le nozze di Figaro”, “Iphigénie en Tauride” and “Alcina” at the Staatsoper Stuttgart.

Particularly admired for his interpretations of Baroque repertoire, Moulds has conducted Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” in a critically acclaimed Royal Opera House/Roundhouse co-production, Handel’s “Semele” at the Händel-Festspiele Karlsruhe, “Tamerlano” and “Orlando” at the Bayerische Staatsoper, and “Saul” at Theater an der Wien with Freiburger Barockorchester. He has also appeared at major festivals, including Salzburg, Bregenz, Glyndebourne and the Händel-Festspiele Halle.

Outside Europe, Moulds has conducted at San Francisco Opera, the Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro Real Madrid, the Sydney Festival, Teatro Colón and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. For his conducting of “Dido and Aeneas” at the Bolshoi Theatre, he received the Golden Mask Award for Best Conductor in 2021. He began his career at English National Opera and was chorus master at Glyndebourne from 1994 to 1998.
