Vita
Soprano Maria Koroleva received her vocal training at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. She graduated with distinction from both the Bachelor of Music programme at the Moscow State University of the Humanities (MosGU) and the Master of Music programme at the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London, where she was supported by the Sussex Scholar Award. As a recipient of the Excellence Scholarship and the Holland Scholarship, Maria Koroleva continued her vocal training at the Dutch National Opera Academy (DNOA).
Maria Koroleva made her debut as Musetta in „La Bohème“ at the Nederlandse Reisopera in spring 2022. Her repertoire includes roles such as Pamina in „Die Zauberflöte“ (DNOA), Eurydice in „Orphée et Eurydice“ by Gluck-Berlioz (Festival Lyrique en Mer), Cornelia in „Cesare e Cleopatra“ by Graun (DNOA), the Lady with a Hand Mirror in „Postcard from Morocco“ by Argento (DNOA), Ida in „Die Fledermaus“, Maguelonne in „Cendrillon“ by Viardot (DNOA), and First Trio Member in „Trouble in Tahiti“ by Bernstein (RCM). She also sang selected scenes as Susanna in „Le nozze di Figaro“ (RCM), Gretel in „Hänsel und Gretel“ (RCM) and the title role in „Snowflake“ by Rimsky-Korsakov (MosGU).
Maria Koroleva also enjoys singing chamber music and oratorios. She has received various engagements with IVC and Heusden-Vesting Klassiek in the Netherlands.
Since the 2022–23 season, she has been a member of the International Opera Studio of the Cologne Opera and has appeared as First Maid in „Der Zwerg“, Young Miranda in Purcell’s „Miranda“, Angelika in Lange’s „Der Gesang der Zauberinsel“, Laura in „Luisa Miller“, Catarina Costa in the world premiere of Frank Pesci’s „The Strangers“, Gretel in „Hänsel und Gretel“, Julia in Blacher’s „Romeo and Juliet“, the Rooster in the children’s opera „The Bremen Town Musicians“, alternating Amore and Drusilla in „L’incoronazione di Poppea“, and Fourth Maid in „Elektra“. In 2023, she also made a guest appearance as Euridice in Gluck’s „Orfeo ed Euridice“ at the Lyrique en mer festival on Belle-Île (Brittany).
In the 2024–25 season, she sang Dorinda in Handel’s „Orlando“, Frasquita in „Carmen“, Zerlina in „Don Giovanni“ and Pamina/Second Lady in „Die Zauberflöte für Jung und Alt“, among other roles.
In the 2025–26 season, she will be heard as Gretel in „Hänsel und Gretel“, among other roles.
