Bettina Ranch initially studied violin in her hometown of Berlin and only later swiched to singing. She is currently receiving vocal guidance from the opera singer Caroline Merz. She has performed at many significant venues including the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Komische Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Hamburg, Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, and Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, where she drew much of attention with the repertoire ranging from baroque to Wagnererian engagements. In the concert domain, she regularly proves her versatility with a varied repertoire, including works such as Mozart's Masses, Johann Sebastian Bach's Passions and Mass in B minor, Handel's "Messiah," Beethoven's "Missa solemnis," Verdi's Requiem, Dvo?ák's "Stabat Mater," and works by Gustav Mahler such as "Das klagende Lied" and Symphony No. 2. Bruckner's Te Deum, Franz Schmidt's Book with Seven Seals and Nono's Il Canto sospeso, in which she made her debut at the Salzburger Festspiele. She has worked with ensembles like the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg, International Bach Academy Stuttgart, Kammerakademie Potsdam, Dresdner Philharmonie, Bremer Philharmoniker, the Gewandhaus Orchester, SWR Symphonieorchester, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, the RTVE Madrid Symphony Orchestra, DSO Berlin, RIAS Kammerchor, and Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. She has collaborated with conductors such as Hartmut Haenchen, Markus Poschner, Simone Young, Tomá? Netopil, Helmuth Rilling, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Rubén Dubrovsky, Paul Goodwin, Peter Rundel, Marc Albrecht, Krzysztof Urba?ski, Christoph König and Ivor Bolton. Since the 2016/17 season Bettina Ranch has been a member of the ensemble at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, where she has sung the title roles of Carmen and Orfeo/Euridice, as well as roles such as Fricka/Die Walküre, Adalgisa/Norma, Maddalena/Rigoletto, Fenena/Nabucco, Sesto/La clemenza di Tito, Dorabella/Così fan tutte, Annina/Rosenkavalier, Cain in Scarlatti's Cain and Abel and many others. She made her house debut with J.S. Bach's "Christmas Oratorio" at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie under Hans-Jörg Albrecht, returned to the Milan Auditorium to sing Mozart's Requiem with Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano under Claus Peter Flor, and performed Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's Symphony "Lobgesang" as well as Mahler's Symphony No. 3 with the Essener Philharmoniker under Tomá? Netopil. At the Eseen Opera House she sung the title role in "Carmen," Ramiro in "La finta giardiniera," Adelaide in "Arabella," and reprised her role as Marcellina in a new production of "Le nozze di Figaro" directed by Floris Visser. The 2023/24 season will bring exciting projects for Bettina Ranch. The season starts for the artist with a guest performances at the Cologne Opera House, where she sings Dorabella in "Così fan tutte" under Gábor Káli and director Tatjana Gürbaca. At the Essen Opera House, she will make two important role debuts: Amneris in "Aida" and Brangäne in "Tristan und Isolde" under the new music director Andrea Sanguineti. She will also appear in revival productions of "Wozzeck" and Puccini's "Il Trittico." In concert, she will again perform works by Gustav Mahler as Symphony No. 2 at the Auditorium di Milano under Andrey Boreyko and Symphony No. 8 (Mezzo-soprano 1) at the Duomo di Milano under Claus Peter Flor, both with the Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro Sinfonico di Milano. Additionally, she will join Thomas Berning and the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie in the Rudolf-Oetker-Halle Bielefeld to sing in a Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's oratorio "Elias", at the Philharmonie Essen, she will perform Bruckner's "Te Deum"  wotj the Essener Philharmoniker and Andrea Sanguinetti as conductor. In the summer of 2024, she will embark on a tour to Beijing with the role of Fricka in "Das Rheingold". Numerous recordings document her career, such as Franz Schmidt's Book with Seven Seals, which was released by Oehms Classics with the Hamburger Philharmoniker/NDR Chor under the musical direction of Simone Young, Joseph Haydn's Il Ritorno di Tobia by Sony Classics with the Salzburg Mozarteumorchester/ Salzburg Bach Choir conducted by Ivor Bolton. Most recently, Mahler's 2nd and 3rd symphonies appeared with her particiaption on OEHMS Classics in 2022 and 2023, with Tomá? Netopil conducting the Essener Philharmoniker.
