As one of the most important international opera houses, the Cologne Opera stands for the fusion of tradition and zeitgeist. The promotion of young talent and the opening of the opera house to young and old, as well as the development of special projects and themes are particularly close to our hearts. We would like to thank our patrons and friends for their generous support and confidential cooperation, which we would like to introduce in the following.
FRIENDS OF THE COLOGNE OPERA E. V.
Culture needs Friends!
CULTURE NEEDS FRIENDS!
For more than 50 years, the "Freunde der Kölner Oper e.V." have been closely associated with the Cologne Opera. Thanks to their commitment to the "International Opera Studio of the Cologne Opera", more than 250 young artists have been supported to date, a number of whom, such as the soprano Anne Schwanewilms or the bass-baritone Samuel Youn, are enjoying great international success.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE OPERA COLOGNE
Opera for everyone: A modell of success
The Cologne Opera Board of Trustees was founded in 2017 with the aim of sustainably promoting cultural life in Cologne with regional and international appeal. In addition to supporting various Cologne Opera productions, the Board of Trustees finances, among other things, the ticket prices for children whose families could not afford to attend the opera. Furthermore, the Board of Trustees supports extraordinary projects, such as the streaming offer of the Cologne Opera in times of pandemic or the newly established Opera-Air at the Tanzbrunnen.
Friends of the Children's Opera
Since the founding of the Cologne Children's Opera in 1996, the Friends of the Children's Opera have supported the projects of the Children's Opera with the aim of enabling children to participate in culture.

»NEUE WEGE« – FUNDING FROM THE STATE OF NRW
Since the 2020.21 season, the Cologne Children's Opera has been funded by the "New Ways" programme of the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in cooperation with the NRWKULTURsekretariat. The funding was recently extended for the period from September 2022 to December 2023.
GERMAN SPEAKING OPERA CONFERENCE (DOK)
The German-speaking Opera Conference (DOK) stands for cooperation, transparency and sustainable development - in the opera business as well as in society.
The DOK is an association of 13 opera houses in German-speaking countries and 3 associated member theatres in London, Milan and Paris. Twice a year, the DOK meets to exchange views on current issues and challenges. Its aim is to strengthen and further develop the opera business in the entire German-speaking region and beyond. Furthermore, the member theatres of the DOK are committed to the preservation and future viability of opera as an art form as part of the indispensable values of European culture.

WHOLEHEARTED GRAND HOTEL
Timeless elegance, tradition and innovation have characterised the Excelsior Hotel Ernst for more than almost 160 years. In 1863, Carl Ernst, the "Royal Court Restaurateur at the Central Station", built today's Grand Hotel. To this day, the Excelsior Hotel Ernst is considered the social centre of the Rhineland - the only member of the Leading Hotels of the World in Cologne and a member of the Selection of German Luxury Hotels. The hotel's philosophy "Your individuality is our strength" is passionately demonstrated by the 190 employees.
"Every child has the right to education and free participation in cultural and artistic life."
In November 2018, the Children's Opera Cologne was awarded the title UNICEF Sponsor Cologne by UNICEF. This marked the start of a cooperation between the Cologne Children's Opera and UNICEF with the aim of raising awareness for children's rights and developing joint campaigns for children in Cologne. The extensive cultural and theatrical educational work of the Cologne Children's Opera, the oldest children's opera in Europe, plays a central role in the partnership.
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, excerpts of which were read out by children from the Henry Ford Secondary School during performances of the children's opera, is the fundamental basis of the long-term cooperation with UNICEF.
